Claim Instructions and Reputable Local Companies to Consider
The big May hailstorm wreaked havoc on a large amount of property in Colorado. If you're like many of our employees here at Alliance, you might have sustained a good deal of damage to your car, home, and other property.
To help make dealing with an icy situation a little less cold, we've compiled a list of staff recommendations* for companies that can help you get your property bent back into shape as well as instructions on how to handle your claims.

How to Handle a Claim
1. Mitigate Damage Immediately - Cover any holes or damage to the best of your ability to prevent further damage before an adjuster can arrive.
2. Carefully Read Your Insurance Policy - Take a few minutes to carefully review your policy. Wind/hail policies oftentimes have a separate deductible that you should be aware of.
3. Identify Loan Holders (Loss Payees) - If you have a loan on your car, home, or business, it is important to notify us of any changes to your bank or payoffs in order for the insurance company to properly issue a payment to you to cover damages.
4. Call Your Insurance Carrier Directly* to Begin the Claims Process - For the fastest service, call your insurance carrier's claim line directly. This information should be available on your policy, but if not, a quick web search for the carrier's claim number should give you what you need. *If your carrier is Auto Owners, please call us at 303.279.9700.
5. Be Patient and Be Aware - When big storms like this hit, all parties involved in insurance, adjustments, and repairs are inundated with work. The claims and repair process can often be a long one, so having patience going in is the best approach. Avoid any companies with a door-to-door approach as many are simply scams. To ensure using a legitimate company, be sure to check either the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or CO Secretary of State websites.
