How to Start Scaling Your Home Services Business

woman professional cleaner smilingThe great thing about businesses that focus on service is that you can start from practically nothing. Tools and good customer service are basically all you need! Once your business is flourishing, however, how do you take it to the next level? By following these three steps, you will have a great start on scaling a home services business.

Partner With Major Property Managers

Whether you specialize in house cleaning or lawncare, getting individual people to hire you is a great start. After that point, however, serving multiple people across a broad area can be more cumbersome than helpful. When you partner with a major property manager over something like apartment complexes or town homes, you not only waste less time traveling but gain trust and loyalty on a whole new level. If you have a handyman services business, for instance, you can waste less time marketing to individuals and more time serving a host of customers under one large partnership.

Serve Commercial Customers

Businesses are another avenue of commerce that most home services businesses do not consider. If you provide cleaning services, for instance, the amount of money the commercial customer is willing to spend is usually greater because they have a vested interest in keeping their property clean themselves. They also are more likely to need services more often than a domestic customer. As another example, businesses frequently require sealcoating for their parking lots, so your services for such things will be more needed and therefore more used than a person needing their driveway fixed.

Become a One-Stop Shop

Regardless of whether you have a location or not, one last great way to expand your business is to provide everything and anything a customer might need surrounding your main service. Because people inherently don’t want to do more work than they have to, customers appreciate being able to get everything they need from the same source. That means if you’re a pool cleaning service, it’s smart to also provide pool repairs and maintenance, or to be the liaison between furniture businesses and your client if you are a home designer. Either way, it’s a great idea to become a one-stop shop to increase your business and success without finding new customers or blowing a budget on marketing.

Your home services business does a lot for people. As you plan for helping even more people, make sure you’re doing so in smart, sustainable ways for your business. Scaling success is possible, especially if you do it efficiently!
