Own a Restaurant? Your Employees Need This Protective Attire

As a business owner, there are many safety protocols you need to make sure you follow. However, you can also take extra steps to protect you and your staff. Providing or encouraging certain types of protective attire is a great way to do this.

Cut Gloves

When working in a restaurant, specifically in the kitchen, you are using knives and other sharp objects that can lead to serious cuts. You want to make sure you take every precaution to prevent your staff from suffering from these injuries. Cut gloves are one of the best ways to do this. These gloves are made from fibers that are meant to resist being cut. These fibers often include stainless steel mesh and other strong materials. When combined, the gloves are more resistant to cuts and puncturing. However, you should be aware that cut gloves are not cut proof. They are merely intended to reduce the risk of injury and are meant to be used as a safety measure.

These gloves come in different levels of thickness and durability. You can evaluate the needs of your restaurant to determine what type of glove you will need. It might even be helpful to have several different types on hand. Providing these gloves for your employees can help to keep them safe. A majority of serious cuts occurred when people were not wearing gloves. If your employees wear cut gloves, they are less likely to receive injuries.

Foot Protection

Another important way you can protect your employees from injury is by encouraging them to wear proper footwear. There are multiple ways foot protection can safeguard employees, but one of the most important for restaurants is the extra traction on the sole that reduces the risk of slipping and falling. Your employees need to wear non-slip shoes while working since they are likely moving around often. While spills should be cleaned up quickly in the kitchen and surrounding areas, it’s still possible for the floors to become slippery. Proper shoes can help protect your employees. You should also encourage them to find comfortable shoes. Restaurant workers spend a lot of time on their feet, and it can leave them feeling sore by the end of the day. Comfortable shoes can make the workday easier.

The safety of your employees should be one of your top priorities. Cut gloves and foot protection are only some of the ways you can protect your employees. Explore more options to keep your employees safe and your restaurant running smoothly.
